Fischer ProlineEvo 2 towbar rack review
A towbar rack rated by its manufacturer at 60 kg (132.3 lb) for two bikes or e-bikes, arriving 99% preassembled with a lockable frame holder and a folding light unit.
Our conclusion The e-bike rack of the hub. The published payload figure is what you are buying, and it is the number that matters most here.
Fischer’s ProlineEvo 2 is the rack in this hub that publishes the figure e-bike owners actually need.
What the manufacturer publishes
Suitable for two bikes or e-bikes, 99% preassembled, mounting on the car’s towball with a quick release. A payload of up to 60 kg (132.3 lb). A lockable frame holder for frames up to 6 cm (2.4 in) diameter. A folding, tiltable frame arm and light unit for mounting, handling and storage.
Why the 60 kg (132.3 lb) figure matters more here than elsewhere
An e-bike weighs 22 to 28 kg (48.5 to 61.7 lb) where a comparable non-assisted bike weighs 12 to 15. Two e-bikes are therefore near or beyond many racks’ rated payload before you add anything. A rack that publishes 60 kg (132.3 lb) is telling you it has been designed for that case.
The arithmetic you still have to do
Sixty kilos is the rack’s rating. Your towball has its own nose weight rating, and the rack’s empty weight counts against it before any bike. If your towbar plate says 75 kg (165.3 lb) and the rack weighs 18 kg (39.7 lb), you have 57 kg (125.7 lb) for bikes regardless of what the rack could carry. Both figures come from the manufacturers; verify them on your own vehicle.
The frame holder limit
Six centimeters is narrower than the 8.5 cm (3.3 in) of the Bullwing. On a modern oversized aluminum frame, that is a real constraint worth measuring before ordering.
What we rate and what we flag
Strengths
A published 60 kg (132.3 lb) payload — the figure most racks in this hub omit
E-bike rated, which matters because e-bikes weigh far more than the frame suggests
A lockable frame holder, and both the frame arm and light unit fold for storage
Compromises
Frame holder limited to 6 cm (2.4 in) diameter, less than the Bullwing below it
The 60 kg (132.3 lb) payload is only usable if your towball nose weight allows it
A large object to store between trips even folded
