ALPINA makes helmets and eyewear, and its product here has one adjustment that most helmets lack.
Where it appears here
The PANOMA Classic touring helmet.
What it is genuinely good at
Height adjustment on the cradle. Almost every helmet has a dial that tightens the cradle around the head. Far fewer let you move that cradle up or down, which is the adjustment that fixes a helmet sitting too far back or tipping forward.
On a two-hour ride, that is the difference between forgetting you are wearing it and constantly pushing it back into place.
Insect mesh in the front vents, which is an unglamorous detail that matters on long summer rides through countryside.
Where it is ordinary
Published detail. No weight, no vent count, and a narrow 56–59 cm (22 to 23.2 in) size range on this reference — narrower than the helmets around it in the same hub.
What to know before buying
Measure your head with a tape a centimeter above the eyebrows and compare that figure to the stated range. On this helmet more than most, being outside the range is not something the dial will rescue.
The marking a manufacturer declares is a manufacturer statement; this site reports it and does not assess conformity.
