Bryton

The battery figure nobody else matches

Bryton competes on specification, and one specification in particular.

Where it appears here

The Rider S810 GPS computer.

What it is genuinely good at

Battery life. Fifty stated hours against sixteen for the Garmin in the same hub. A day ride never troubles any of these units; a four-day tour with no reliable charging does. Fifty hours means the computer is not the thing you are planning around.

Screen size. Three and a half inches is the largest in this catalog, with offline European mapping, which is excellent for a map.

Features that need no preparation. Its climb prediction works from map data as you ride rather than requiring a preloaded route.

Where it is ordinary

Sales position and ecosystem. Rank 15,141 against the Garmin’s 520, and the surrounding software and accessory ecosystem is smaller.

What to know before buying

Treat fifty hours as a best case, as with every battery claim — navigation with a bright backlight is not the measurement condition.

And measure your handlebar space. Three and a half inches is a lot of screen next to a light and a phone mount.
