Dr. Wack

A chain oil and the brush that goes with it

Dr. Wack’s F100 range appears twice on this site, and the two products are designed to work together.

Where it appears here

The F100 chain brush and the F100 chain oil.

What it is genuinely good at

Naming a specific mechanism. The chain oil is described as working through special polymers with high creep and adhesion. Creep is how well an oil flows into the gaps inside the rollers, where the wear happens; adhesion is how well it stays there under water and grit. Those pull in opposite directions and naming both is a more substantial claim than “long lasting”.

Designing as a set. The brush has two heads and is stated to work with the F100 chain cleaners, so the cleaner is formulated to be removed by the brush and the oil applied afterwards.

Where it is ordinary

The chain oil does not state whether it is a wet or dry formulation, which is the categorization that tells you which conditions it suits. And the brush is a brush — no fluid is included, at a price close to some complete kits.

What to know before buying

The brush’s two heads matter: one for the chain, one for the narrow gaps between sprockets. A single brush profile cannot reach both.
