Schwalbe’s Doc Blue is the volume seller in this hub, and it is the tire manufacturer’s own sealant.

What the manufacturer publishes

A 200 ml bottle, described as ideal for preventive use. An environmentally friendly, high-quality sealant that closes small holes and punctures. Perfect for tubeless conversion on Schwalbe tires, with immediate effect. Manufactured to high quality standards.

The consumable nature of sealant

This is the thing that catches out most riders new to tubeless. Sealant is not a one-off installation. The liquid carrier evaporates through the tire wall over weeks and months, leaving a rubbery film that seals nothing at all.

That means a service interval, published on the bottle, that applies whether or not the tire has ever punctured. A tire that sloshes when shaken still has liquid; a silent one is dry.

Valves with removable cores

Not sold here, and essential. A removable core lets sealant be injected through the valve with a syringe rather than by breaking the tire bead. It is the difference between a five-minute top-up and a full refit.

What is not published

The maximum hole size it seals. The Muc-Off in this hub states 6 mm (0.24 in); that figure is what tells you whether a cut will seal or need a plug.

The questions riders ask

How much do I need per wheel?

It depends on tire volume — a road tire needs far less than a 2.4 inch mountain bike tire. Schwalbe publishes recommended quantities per size; a 200 ml bottle covers roughly two road wheels or one wide one.

How often does it need replacing?

Sealant dries inside the tire over months whether or not it has sealed anything. Manufacturers state intervals of roughly two to six months depending on formulation and climate — check the bottle rather than waiting for a puncture.
