What the manufacturer publishes

Suitability for all bicycle chains. Function in all weather conditions. Excellent corrosion and wear protection. Lubrication and protection.

What all-weather means

A formulation aimed at the middle: heavier than a dry lube so it survives rain, lighter than a wet lube so it collects less dust. On a bike ridden in mixed conditions a few times a week, that is the sensible single purchase.

Where it loses out is at the extremes. In a dry, dusty summer a dedicated dry lube keeps the chain visibly cleaner. In a wet winter a wet lube lasts longer between applications. Owning both costs about ten dollars and does more for chain life than any single premium bottle.

Applying it

One drop per roller, turn the cranks backwards to work it in, then wipe the outside of the chain thoroughly. Lubricant belongs inside the rollers where the wear happens. A chain that looks oily is carrying it where it does nothing except collect dust.

The step before

Adding lubricant to a gritty chain makes grinding paste. Degrease first — the NIGRIN chain cleaner in the degreasers hub is the matching product.

The questions riders ask

Is all-weather lube good enough?

It is a genuine compromise. A dedicated dry lube sheds dust better in summer and a wet lube survives rain better in winter. An all-weather lube does both adequately, which is the right answer for one bike ridden occasionally.

How often should I apply it?

NIGRIN publishes no interval. The practical signals apply: a squeaking chain is overdue, and a chain ridden in rain has had its lubricant displaced by water whether or not it looks dry.
