Wahoo Fitness

Trainers and computers built around the software

Wahoo builds hardware around software, and both its products on this site show it.

Where it appears here

The KICKR CORE 2 direct-drive trainer and the ELEMNT BOLT V3 computer.

What it is genuinely good at

Removing steps. The BOLT downloads routes automatically from connected accounts — Komoot, Strava, Ride with GPS — and uploads rides the same way. The usual workflow of exporting a file and transferring it disappears entirely.

Built-in WiFi on the trainer, which removes the Bluetooth pairing chain that is where most indoor sessions go wrong.

Including what makes it work. The KICKR CORE 2 ships with Zwift Cog and Click, which removes the usual direct-drive cost of buying a cassette and the tools to fit it.

Where it is ordinary

Published battery figures. The BOLT V3’s listing states none, in a category where a competitor states fifty hours.

And the value is tied to using the connected services. If you plan routes on paper, you are paying for something you will not use.

What to know before buying

The Zwift Cog arrangement is optimized for Zwift specifically. With other software you would generally fit a conventional cassette instead.
