ZEFAL

A ten-year claim on the thing that usually yellows

Zéfal has made bicycle accessories in France for a very long time, and its product here addresses a specific known failure.

Where it appears here

The frame protection film set.

What it is genuinely good at

Addressing the actual failure mode. Cheap protective film goes yellow under UV within two or three years, which looks considerably worse than the chips it was preventing — and by then it has bonded well enough that removing it takes solvents and patience.

A ten-year non-yellowing claim is a specific manufacturer statement about the material, and it is the one that matters in this category.

UV and water resistance, stated, on a product that lives permanently outdoors on a frame.

Where it is ordinary

No film thickness published. Thickness is the trade in protective film — thicker resists chips, thinner conforms to curves without lifting — and it is a figure a buyer would use.

What to know before buying

Apply to a clean, dry frame above roughly 15 °C (59 °F). Adhesive applied cold lifts at the edges within weeks, and that single condition accounts for most disappointed reviews of every protection film on the market.

The places worth protecting are predictable: the down tube, the chainstay, anywhere a cable rubs, and the head tube if you use a bar bag.
