Pinsync’s pedals are aimed squarely at the first clipless purchase, and the specification reflects that.

What the manufacturer publishes

Beginner-friendly and compatible with SPD-SL: suiting standard three-hole road cleats, and stated as not suitable for other systems. A complete set for immediate use, with all matching accessories included and no additional purchases required. Weather-resistant sealed precision bearings keeping water and dirt out for year-round use. Infinitely adjustable spring tension, set with the supplied 3 mm (0.12 in) key.

The tension adjustment, which is the point

This is the specification that decides whether someone sticks with clipless pedals. Set to its lowest, the pedal releases with a small twist and the foot comes out before the bike falls over. Set high, it holds through a sprint and does not let go at a junction.

Starting low and raising it after a few weeks is the standard advice, and it needs a pedal that adjusts.

The sealed bearings

Pedals sit at the lowest point of the bike and take everything the road throws. Sealed bearings are what stop them becoming rough after one winter.

What you still need

Three-bolt road shoes. The cleats are included; the shoes are not, and they are the larger purchase.

Availability

Catalogued and unsold: the American Amazon shop lists the reference with nobody behind it.

The questions riders ask

Why does adjustable tension matter for a beginner?

Nearly every first clipless fall happens at a standstill, from a foot that did not release in time. Setting the tension to its lowest makes release almost effortless while you learn, and it can be raised later.

What does 9/16 inch mean?

The pedal axle thread size. It is the standard on almost all adult bikes with a three-piece chainset. Very cheap one-piece chainsets use 1/2 inch, which is a different thread.
