Fincci’s pair is the commuting tire in this hub, and the reflective sidewalls are the reason to prefer it.

What the manufacturer publishes

Reflective sidewalls increasing visibility and control on the road for riders traveling at night. Tread patterns offering stability for road, e-bike and city bike use, with grip on gravel and tarmac. A weight of 425 g (15 oz) in 37-622, with a Kevlar folding bead. A 1 mm (0.04 in) nylon puncture protection layer.

Why sidewall reflectives matter more than they sound

Your front and rear lights are visible from in front and behind. The dangerous position is side-on at a junction, where neither light points. A reflective sidewall lights up as a moving circle when headlights catch it, and it is instantly recognisable as a bicycle in a way a static reflector is not.

The weight

Four hundred and twenty-five grams is substantial for a 37 mm (1.46 in) tire, and that is what a nylon protection layer and a durable casing weigh. On a commuter carrying luggage it is the right trade; on a fast gravel bike it is not.

The 1 mm (0.04 in) figure again

As with the road tires in this hub, Fincci publishes a thickness rather than a trademark. It is comparable in a way named belts are not.

The questions riders ask

How useful are reflective sidewalls?

They light up a rotating circle at wheel height when a car's headlights catch them from the side. Lights point forwards and backwards; sidewalls are what make you visible at a junction, which is where the risk is.

Is it tubeless ready?

The manufacturer does not state tubeless readiness, and describes a Kevlar folding bead with a nylon protection layer. Treat it as a tube-type tire unless the seller confirms otherwise.
