What you are getting

Two rolls of ultra-light EVA foam bar tape with a 3M adhesive backing. 80 g. $9.99.

And five bullets, each opening with an emoji, that between them publish not one dimension.

What the listing does not contain

No length. No width. No thickness. No roll length. No end caps mentioned, no finishing tape mentioned, no plug type.

The introduction to this shelf says that for drop bars, tape thickness and material are the comparison. The material is given — EVA foam — and the thickness is not. Nor is anything else.

For contrast, the ALIEN PROS tape on this page, at thirty cents less, publishes 2 m (7 ft) × 3 cm (1.2 in) × 3 mm (0.12 in) and the count of end caps.

The 3M adhesive is the one concrete thing

“BV Handlebar Tape features 3M adhesive backing for easy application.”

Naming the adhesive manufacturer is unusual and worth something: the adhesive is what decides whether a wrap holds at the awkward reverse near the hoods, and whether the tape can be unwrapped and re-laid when the first attempt is crooked. A named industrial adhesive is a better signal than “full adhesive gel back”.

What is not said is whether it runs the full width or down the center. The ALIEN PROS tape states full-width; the Thinvik states tapered edges.

BV sells the same tape twice

A second BV listing, B072WBCT91 at $11.99, carries the same reference BV-TP-01 and the same five bullets word for word, described as “Black/White” with “2 rolls & accessories included”.

Nothing published distinguishes them beyond color and $2. If the black/white version is not what you want, this is the cheaper listing of the same tape.

EVA, and what that means in the rain

Ethylene-vinyl acetate is a closed-cell foam. It cushions well, it does not absorb water, and its grip when genuinely wet depends entirely on its surface texture — which this listing does not describe.

Three of the six tapes on this shelf are EVA-based and none of them can claim what the Supacaz PU tapes claim: a surface that “remains tacky in wet conditions”. For dry riding or gloved hands, EVA at $9.99 is sufficient; for rain, it is the compromise.

And one bullet wanders off the subject

“BV Bike Handlebar Tape provides comfortable handlebar grip for road bikes and more, including bar tape and bike frame protection tape.”

Frame protection tape is a different product on a different shelf — the frame protection page on this site covers it. A bar tape listing mentioning it reads as search-term padding.

What is not published

Thickness, length, width, surface texture, adhesive coverage, end caps, finishing tape, plug type. The weight, 80 g for the set, and the material are the whole of it.

At $9.99 that is honest pricing for an unspecified product, and the ALIEN PROS tape at $9.29 specifies itself.

The questions riders ask

How thick is it, and how long?

BV does not say — no thickness, no length, no width anywhere on the listing. That is the gap, because the introduction to this shelf names thickness and material as the comparison for drop bars. The ALIEN PROS tape on this page is thirty cents cheaper and publishes 2 m (7 ft) × 3 cm (1.2 in) × 3 mm (0.12 in), which is enough to work out whether it will reach round your bars.

Why are there two BV listings?

Both carry the reference BV-TP-01 and the same five bullets word for word. One is this, at $9.99; the other, B072WBCT91 at $11.99, is described as "Black/White" with "accessories included". Nothing published separates them beyond the color and two dollars. Buy this one unless you want the two-tone.

Will it grip in the rain?

Less well than a PU tape. EVA is a closed-cell foam that does not absorb water, and its wet grip depends entirely on surface texture — which this listing never describes. The Supacaz tapes on this page claim a PU layer that "remains tacky in wet conditions", for four times the price. For dry riding or gloved hands, EVA is enough; in rain it is the compromise.
