Our conclusion A way to find out whether you will actually train indoors, for a fifth of the price of finding out with a smart trainer.
The Red Loon is the honest entry point: a mechanical trainer that does the basic job and nothing beyond it.
What the manufacturer publishes
Indoor training in any weather. A six-level adjustable magnetic brake for endurance or interval work. A description as quiet and space-saving, with a stable steel frame and non-slip rubber feet. Compatibility with 26 to 29 inch wheels, covering road bikes, mountain bikes and city bikes. Folding. Rated to 150 kg (330.7 lb).
What it is not
Not smart. There is no ANT+ or Bluetooth, so no app can change the resistance and no software will see your effort. Resistance changes happen at a lever, by hand, when you decide.
The noise question
Every wheel-on trainer is loud, because the noise comes from the tire against the roller and not from the mechanism. Manufacturers describe them as quiet relative to each other. If you live in a flat with neighbors, this is the specification to weigh above all others, and the direct-drive units in this hub are the answer.

The questions riders ask
Does it connect to Zwift?
No. This is a manual magnetic trainer with six resistance levels and no wireless broadcasting. Connecting to an app would need a separate speed sensor, and even then the resistance would not respond to the software.
Which wheel sizes fit?
Red Loon states 26 to 29 inch wheels, covering road, mountain bike and city bikes.
