One of the best-selling products on this site, and a straightforward piece of design.

What the manufacturer publishes

A newly updated grip connector requiring no tools. Four corners and the surface covered with thick resin silicone for shock-proof protection. An automatic locking mechanism for easy use. Wide compatibility with 3.5 to 6.8 inch devices including GPS units.

The automatic lock

Push the phone in and the clamp closes and locks. It sounds trivial and it is the difference between mounting a phone while holding a bike upright and needing both hands.

The silicone

On the corners and the contact surface. Phones are mounted on vibrating handlebars in the rain, and a rigid plastic clamp on glass corners marks them within a month. Padding is what prevents that.

The size figure, and its limitation

Three point five to 6.8 inches describes the device. The clamp measures width, and a rugged case adds several millimeters each side. A large phone in a heavy case is the case that fails, and it is worth measuring rather than assuming.

What is not published

Any vibration damping and any IP rating. Neither is unusual at this price, and both matter for a long ride in bad weather with an expensive phone.

The questions riders ask

What is the automatic lock?

The clamp closes on the phone as it is pushed in and locks, rather than needing a separate catch. It makes one-handed mounting possible, which matters at a junction.

Will my phone in a case fit?

The 3.5–6.8 inch range is stated for the device. A protective case adds width — measure the phone with the case on and compare to the clamp's opening rather than the screen size.
