What you are getting

A 26” × 1.75-2.125 Schrader tube with sealant already inside it, claimed to “stop flats for 2 years” and to seal punctures up to 1/8” (3 mm (0.12 in)). 644 g (22.7 oz) — by far the heaviest tube in this group. $15.49.

It solves the puncture differently from everything else here

Every other tube on this page tries not to be punctured. This one expects to be, and seals the hole: “Slime Tube Sealant seeks out and instantly seals punctures in your tubes up to 1/8” (3 mm (0.12 in)) using Fibro-Seal Technology.”

Three millimeters is a real number and a generous one — a thorn, a staple, a small nail. What it will not fix is a pinch flat, where the tube splits along a line rather than being pierced, or a cut in the tire casing itself. The puncture repair shelf on this site is where the answer to those lives.

The weight is the sealant

644 g (22.7 oz), against 472 g (16.6 oz) for the thick-walled Ultraverse and 136 g (4.8 oz) for the Bell on the same wheel size. Roughly half a kilo of that is rubber and the rest is liquid, carried on the rim where rotating weight costs most.

On a commuter or a cargo bike that is an easy trade: half a kilo against not standing at the roadside. On anything ridden for sport it is not.

Two years, and what the clock is actually measuring

“Stop flats for 2 years because there is Slime inside.”

Sealant dries. That is the mechanism behind the interval, and it is the same one the tubeless sealant shelf on this site is built around — its own line is that sealant dries out on a schedule whether or not you have punctures. After two years the tube is an ordinary, very heavy tube, and nothing on this listing says whether more sealant can be added through the Schrader valve.

That is the question to ask before buying, because a Schrader valve with a removable core can be topped up and one without cannot.

Non-toxic, water soluble, and that matters at the bin

“Environmentally friendly. Non-toxic, non-corrosive and non-hazardous, non-flammable, water soluble.”

Water soluble is the practical half: sealant that washes off a rim, a brake rotor and a pair of hands with water rather than solvent. Anyone who has dealt with a dried latex sealant will recognize why it is worth stating.

It is sold for more than bicycles

“Works in bicycles, wheelbarrows, wheelchairs, jogging strollers, snow blowers and much more.”

True, and a sign of what this tube is: a sealed-in-advance tube for wheels that are a nuisance to repair, wherever they are.

What is not published

No ETRTO pair — inch sizes only, on a shelf whose buying advice is to read the ETRTO. No weight per tube, no sealant volume, no statement on topping up, and no stated pressure range. “Extra strong” is not a wall thickness.

The questions riders ask

What will it not seal?

A pinch flat and a cut in the tire. Sealant closes a hole it can be pushed into — a thorn, a staple, a tack, up to the published 3 mm (0.12 in). A pinch flat is a split where the tube was crushed between rim and obstacle, and a gash in the tire casing leaves the tube with nothing to press against. For those, the puncture repair kits and tire levers on this site are still the answer, and so is a spare tube.

What happens after two years?

The sealant dries, and you are left with a very heavy ordinary tube. That interval is about the liquid, not the rubber — the same mechanism the tubeless sealant shelf here is built on, where sealant dries on a schedule whether or not it has ever been used. Whether it can be topped up through the valve depends on the valve core being removable, and this listing does not say.

Is half a kilo of extra weight worth it?

It depends entirely on the bike. On a commuter, a cargo bike or a child’s bike, 644 g (22.7 oz) against never stopping for a thorn is a good trade, and the weight is barely noticeable at town speeds. On anything ridden quickly it is not: the mass sits on the rim where it costs most to accelerate, and the thick-walled Ultraverse tube on this page resists pinch flats at 472 g (16.6 oz) the pair without any liquid.
