Continental makes its own rubber compounds, and this is its mountain bike tube in a two-pack.

What the manufacturer publishes

Two Continental MTB tubes for 29-inch wheels, covering ETRTO 47-622 to 62-622. A Presta valve. Suitability stated for mountain bike tires.

The 622 mm (24.5 in) coincidence worth knowing

A 29-inch mountain bike wheel and a 700C road wheel are both 622 mm (24.5 in). Same rim diameter, completely different tires. That is why a road tube and a mountain bike tube share the second ETRTO number and are not interchangeable — the width range is what separates them.

Buying two

The spare in your saddle bag is only useful if it matches the tires currently on the bike. Buying a pair at the same time means it does, and it removes the most common failure in a roadside repair: a spare tube bought for a wheel you no longer own.

The valve

Presta, the narrow one with a lock nut at the tip. Check what your rim is drilled for — a Presta tube in a Schrader-drilled rim needs a grommet to stop it rattling and tearing.

The questions riders ask

Does 29-inch mean the same as 700C?

The rim diameter is the same — both are 622 mm (24.5 in). The difference is tire width: a 29-inch mountain bike tire and a 700x25C road tire sit on the same rim diameter and need different tubes.

Why buy two?

One goes in the wheel, one lives in the saddle bag. A spare tube that matches your tires is the single most useful thing to carry, and buying the pair means the spare actually matches.
