A rigid shackle gives an attacker almost nothing to lever against, which is why D-locks give the most resistance per kilogram of any format. The usual complaint is reach, and this one answers it with an unusually large body — 28 cm (11 in) of internal clearance takes in a frame, a wheel and most stands.
The supplied cable is for the front wheel, a child seat or a helmet. It is a deterrent against opportunists, not a second lock, and it should not be the only thing securing anything you would mind losing.
