Magene

Sensors and computers at the value end

Magene appears twice on this site, at the value end of two different electronic categories.

Where it appears here

The S3+ speed and cadence sensor, which is the best-selling sensor in this catalog, and the C506 map navigation computer.

What it is genuinely good at

Dual protocol at the lowest price. The S3+ broadcasts on ANT+ and Bluetooth, which is what decides whether a sensor survives your next computer. A sensor speaking only Bluetooth can be invisible to a head unit that expects ANT+.

One product covering two roles. The S3+ switches between speed and cadence mode by reseating the battery, so a pair covers both for the price of one conventional sensor.

Free world maps on the C506, where some units in that class charge for regions.

Candour. Magene publishes the fact that two versions of the S3+ circulate, differing in the battery compartment. That is unusually honest and worth knowing if you buy a second one later.

Where it is ordinary

The C506’s listing publishes no battery figure, no IP rating and no ANT+ support — the last of which matters directly if you already own ANT+ sensors.

What to know before buying

Confirm ANT+ support on the computer with the seller if you have existing sensors.
